    Hi everyone,

My name is Sarah Lane and I am the new Program Director at KidsGardening. I love how transformational school and community gardens can be!

What is your favorite thing to grow in a garden? Mine is okra! I did have to learn to wear gloves and long sleeves though; the leaves can make your arms very itchy...

I grew up in Seattle, WA and am currently living in a tiny house, more like a tiny shed, in Little Rock, AR. I love to travel, eat local food, spend time in gardens, and am in the process of building my own tiny house too. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language from Washington State University, and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Trinity University in San Antonio.

I have taught preschoolers in Arkansas, students in elementary schools in Texas and Arkansas, and students in middle and high schools in Washington. I even taught English in Pasto, Colombia to college students and professors! Most recently, I was Arkansas's first Farm to School and Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator at the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, and a few years before that, I was a FoodCorps service member at Carolyn Lewis Elementary and Ida Burns Elementary in Conway, Arkansas.

I am looking forward to connecting with many of you!

    Hi Sarah!

My name is Kendall Slaughter and I'm the Farm to School Specialist for Springfield, Mo Public Schools. Glad to hear there's a neighbor down south working for the same cause! I'm hoping that we may even have some producers in common in the near future. Congrats on your new position. Please let me know if there's anything SPS can do to help support your program.

    Your neighbor to the north,
    Kendall Slaughter
