Native plants are the BEST for adding into your pollinator gardens AND to border your veggie gardens. They will attract the bees native to your area who will be the most efficient pollinators. Pretty much every state has a Native Plant Society to help advise you on the best plants for your garden!
The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education grant program (SFE) advances Wild Ones' mission to spread awareness of the benefits of using native plants by providing funding for native plants and native seeds for projects that engage youth (preschool to high school) directly in planning, planting and caring for native plant gardens. Grant applications will be accepted from 12:00 a.m. CDT on July 15th through 11:59 p.m. CDT on October 15th, 2021 for the 2022 planting season. The period between July 15th and October 15th provides an opportunity for learning and preparing as you design and plan your garden project. If you are new to native plants, please email us at
seeds@wildones.org
for clarification or assistance with the application.
