Help naming a new high school garden course

I got the go ahead from my school administrators to create an  garden-based elective course at my high school! I just need help coming up with a name! The course will be mostly hands-on, and follow the life cycle of a garden (we also have chickens and are getting bees) throughout the year. There will be a strong food-justice, urban agriculture and sustainability aspect to the course. How can I capture all those ideas in a succinct name? Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Congratulations Lisa, it sounds like an incredible course for everyone involved!
Names that come to mind are:
    “Gardening For Good”
    “Growing For Good”
    “Planting With Purpose”

    Just a few ideas..have fun!

I just got approval to offer a similar course at Oklahoma State University for non-majors. It's called Hands-on Horticulture. You could call it that, or Hands-on Urban Horticulture. It doesn't include everything, but I would think it covers the hands-on, urban, small livestock part. Have fun with it!  What state are you in?

Since you are in a suburban community.  How about Suburban Farming or Sustainability in Suburbia.

    Hi, Lisa-
Congrats on your program's approval! I love your garden's ecosystem, complete with flora AND fauna as well as its focus on social justice!
The ideas that spring to mind were food webs, and life force, and wanted to have that idea in the name, because it also captures the human component. Because I'm a sucker for an acronym, I was thinking of something like "Farm WEB" or "Garden WEB" (Where Everyone Belongs) or "LIFE Force" (Learning in a Farm Environment).

Looking forward to hearing about your students' experiences in this new program!

We had a contest in naming our school garden.  Students submitted suggestions and then we listed the suggestions and staff voted on their favorite.  The kids enjoyed it and we had a sign made and the winners picture taken next to the sign.  Hence our garden is called  "The Learning Patch"

Karen, I love this idea. Getting students involved in the naming process would definitely help cultivate a sense of ownership. You could even get them to choose a "mascot"!
