  • 1.  Eligibility to Apply for Grant Funds

    Posted 09-15-2021 04:55:00 PM
Our  community kids gardening project really need some funding. We recently received a 501.3c to start receiving grants. Will this make use eligible to apply for grants listed in Kids Garden Community?

    Thanks,

    Hi Dr. Lodessa,

All of the grants, contests, and other opportunities listed in the Kids Garden Community (either in the Funding Library or via discussion posts) are shared from various organizations and each one has different eligibility requirements. If you're using the Funding Library, you can use the 'Organization Type' filter to narrow down the results to ones that might be available to you. I know that an official 501(c)(3) classification is required for some grants where you have to show proof of that status so it's definitely a good thing to have.

KidsGardening will be announcing it's annual Youth Garden Grant in October which you might be eligible to apply for. Just mentioning that here since it's not listed in the Kids Garden Community yet. I would also suggest checking out the SeedMoney Challenge Grants listed in the Funding Library. Does anyone else know of grants not yet listed?

Dr. Lodessa, we'd love to know more about your youth garden if you'd like to share a little more about it!

I truly appreciate your feedback. The kids maintain their master gardens and home gardens. They have workshops to teach them business and entrepreneurship skills. The kids are charter member of the corporation. They have several big gardens around Atlanta, some schools, boys and girls club and a community center. Their non-profit status was just approved. That's why I'm searching for funds to help them.  Any help will be appreciative.  Thanks again!

    Dr. Washington,

If you are in Atlanta then be sure to look at the Cherokee Garden Club. They have a Community Fund.
Captain Planet might be an option too.
