    Posted 06-15-2022 08:45:00 AM
Happy Pollinator Month! I'm excited to talk about all things pollinators and youth gardening at our next Community Chat on 6/22 at 3PM ET. This is a great Chat for anyone gardening with kids in any setting - homes, schools, community centers, etc - and I know that many of you have some great ideas you can share with the group.

Topics can include pollinator activities, ideas to raise awareness in communities, creating pollinator-friendly spaces in any setting, funding opportunities for pollinator projects, and anything else you'd like to discuss. From those new to gardening to seasoned educators, everyone is welcome!

Learn More and Register (this Chat will be recorded)

If you can't attend, add your ideas and questions here to get the conversation started. If you're celebrating pollinator month, let us know how!

We just planted a small native pollinator garden (5x5).   I am looking for ways to engage the kids out in the garden and help them learn about pollinators.

Any ideas of little lessons kids could do out in the pollinator garden?   So far I have thought of a bingo card, a check off list, and counting of the insects.     Any other ideas?  (K-5)

    Hi Camille,

The book The School Garden Curriculum by Kaci Rae Christopher has some really fun pollinator/ bug lessons ideas, about attracting, observing, and appreciating pollinators. And some about understanding the world through the lens of pollinators as well.

Here at the Agricultural Museum, we are having a Pollinator Party on June 24th. Families will rotate thru a variety of stations including bee anatomy puzzles, a bat and hummingbird craft, planting pollinator pots, playing games, and more! We are excited to offer hands-on learning as well as materials that families can bring home with them to continue the learning and the fun!

If we aren't able to attend the June 22nd session,  do we need to register in order to access the recording?

Hi Diane - if you are not able to attend, registration is optional. In the past we've posted the recording to the discussion threads so it's available to everyone (it will likely just go on this thread) and then sent an email to everyone who registered with the link to that thread.
