    I also wanted to mention that we will be offering a summer session of Teaching in Nature's Classroom, a free, self-paced course for garden educators that uses Google Classroom. There is also an option to receive  two graduate credits through the University of Pacific (the cost for the two credits is $160.) If you would like to receive an email when registration opens in early May you can fill out this form:

    Hi All!
    There's an opportunity as well here in SC, led by Clemson Cooperative Extension, "School Gardening for SC Educators". The deadline to register is this Friday, February 26th. The cost to register is $75 and it's 20 renewal hours via the SC Dept of Education for licensed teachers!

    Here's the link to register

    School Gardening for SC Educators is a self-paced, online course developed by Clemson Extension horticulture and 4-H Youth Development agents that teaches the basic horticulture skills needed to start and maintain a sustainable school garden. The training pairs a standards-based curriculum for grades K-8 with ongoing technical support that utilizes the Clemson Extension network of Horticulture agents, 4-H Youth Development agents, Rural Health Extension Agents, and Master Gardener volunteers.

    Spring 2022  will include a "virtual workshop" and "resource round-up" including a grade-level specific lesson in a box kit. Each kit will provide participants with tools and materials to help bring lessons to life for students through in-person or virtual instruction. Thanks to our generous sponsors, each registrant will only pay $75 and will receive:

    • The Garden STEM Curriculum for Your Garden Classroom (K-8), a 600-page curriculum written for SC educators, by SC educators;
    • Seasonal Planting Guide and Calendar for School Gardens to guide school gardeners in growing a wide array of crops throughout the school year;
    • Grade-level Specific Lesson In A Box  Each curated lesson in a box is sponsored by a partnering agency and will be filled with lessons, materials, and a few fun surprises!

    Grades K-5: Garden-based Literacy

    Grades 6-12 Science of Healthy Soil

    After registering, you will receive your course materials at the shipping address you provided when registering.

    The class begins on March 7th, you will be automatically enrolled in the online course and an email will be sent to the email address you provide at registration.

    Participants may work through the modules at their own pace until April 22nd. Upon completion, licensed teachers receive 20 renewal credits from the South Carolina Department of Education. Everyone who completes this course will receive an interactive digital badge issued by Clemson Online!
