    Hi all,

Posting for my sister who's gardening in northern Vermont with two young boys. She's wondering how to get rid of cucumber beetles from plants that are growing (besides having her boys vacuum them off the pumpkins - a good chore for them, I guess). This is the first time our family has had an issue with cucumber beetles!

Any advice for controlling the current problem and/or how to prevent it next season?

    Hi Amelia --

She needs more wolf spiders in her garden -- they eat cuke beetles. OK, so that may not be feasible.  Trap crops help, as do certain mulches.  They should inspect the undersides of leaves for eggs and wipe them off. Vacuuming the adults is actually good.

Here are some other methods.   https://eorganic.org/node/5307

Hi there! I find this to be a really great resource and newsletter.
Scroll down to see what she says about cucumber beetles.

You can also call your local county Master Gardener extension office and they will give advice.
