Hi Laurie, here are a couple of resources that I have found useful for training/ planning with volunteers and colleagues --
ACT for Youth resource page, scroll down to Stages of Adolescent Development for article & chart on tendencies in different areas during early, middle, and late adolescence: http://www.actforyouth.net/adolescence/toolkit/overview.cfm
Developmentally Appropriate Practices for PK-12 Teachers (site was created by an undergraduate class, but contains practical, research-based information on social-emotional development, cognitive, etc.) :https://sites.google.com/site/dapforteachers

Subject: Working with youth - Leader training
We are working with students in Junior Master Gardener after school programs with students in 3rd through 6th grade; Sometimes indoors(winter) and sometimes outdoors in the garden. Leaders (master gardeners) are asking for training in working with youth. Anyone have any recommendations for leader training that includes learning capabilities, behavior management, etc. for this age group? Online classes preferably. Or other websites? Thank you!
