  • 1.  Garden Maintenance Schedule

We will be building up the garden in the courtyard of our school. Hopefully three raised garden beds and a pollinator garden. The hope is for the self contained classes in our elementary school to be the primary care takers of the garden, however I would like to create some sort of schedule for our Courtyard Garden volunteers to sign up to assist with weeding, watering, etc.

How have you all managed a schedule for garden upkeep for your school gardens? Any advice or model to follow? Thank you!

    Hi Sarah,

I created this editable google spreadsheet garden maintenance sign-up calendar - feel free to download or copy. I preferred this over a google form since you can see what others have done/will be doing. The aim was for teachers to sign up themselves or their classes and make a note of what they did (this would be if they went on their own without anyone to supervise). The garden coordinator or other volunteers can leave notes for future volunteers based on what they have seen or didn't get around to. I think it would be helpful to send it out as a reminder on a regular basis and set a "deadline" for signing up. This is in addition to having community garden workdays and landscapers come to maintain the large invasives.

    Good luck!
