    Hi Friends -

I'm writing with a question from a farm-based educator I work with. Does anyone out there have small livestock and use electric fences in their growing spaces?

As an Educational Production Farm, we use electric fences along the perimeter pastures. We also use a temporary electrical fence as part of our Rotational Grazing/plan.

Recently, we have had a few students (all under 5 years old) "shock" themselves on the fence. It is a huge concern for us (in many ways) but as we are licensed by DHS we want to ensure we're not at risk of losing our certification to operate as an early-learning centre!

How do other Farms pro-actively prevent this? Are they using electric fences? Do they bring the animals to another area, temporarily, for educational purposes?

Thanks for any insight you may have!
