Greenhouse Kits

    Good Morning!

Our gifted program in Springfield, Mo has raised a ton of money to build a "Harry Potter Style" greenhouse with a rock stem wall and dark frame. I'm wondering where everyone has purchased greenhouse kits from in the past for schools? We have a stamped design for a 16'x20' greenhouse and need to find a kit to match the design. Can anyone recommend a place to purchase a quality 16'x20' polycarbonate greenhouse kit? I have looked at the common sites like Greenhouse Megastore and Farmtek but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for under $30,000.

Any advice is helpful! Thank you!

This is awesome! I am a huge Harry Potter fan and would love to see how this turns out! There are a few recommended greenhouse suppliers in this thread from a few weeks ago (and there's another thread linked in there where people had shared some of the hurdles they came up against when trying to install a greenhouse - might be worth checking that out, too). Hope recommended Growers Supply and it looks like they have a lot of options.

Could you share how you raised the funds for this? Were you successful in getting grants or did you do fundraisers or get donations?

Hey Amelia! I will check out that thread. Thanks! As soon as I hit submit I thought "I should have looked through past threads before posting." This has been a very long process to get to this point and we have not even broken ground. 7 years ago the principal made a great push to raise funds through different fundraisers and has raised plenty of money. However, after permitting and all of the red tape we have had to jump through, our initial quote was $160,000 for a 16'x20' greenhouse with heat, water and a rock stem wall. The principal didn't quite reach that quote and we are hoping to find someone who can do it cheaper. She had several parents donate large sums of money for the project and their students have graduated the program and we have not even started construction. The principal is wanting to retire soon but won't until this project is done.

Such a cool idea!!!  I'm just north of you in Ashland, MO and we are purchasing a greenhouse soon. We were lucky enough to receive ARPA funds to cover the costs that will be incurred for this project.

    Hey Hope!

I'll have to take a look at ARPA for funding! Thank you so much for the info. If you're ever in Springfield, come on by the AgAcademy and say hi!

Hope, How did you apply for ARPA funds? I work in SNAP-Ed and am working with a county school district and local Boys and Girls Club to bring farm to community/school activities to a rural town. We need to repair the old high school greenhouses heating/cooling systems. The Club has inherited two old greenhouses from the school district for farm to community and farm to school projects. The goal is to give the town kids activities outside of school hours and weekends.

    Kendall,

I just posted this (from Anchorage AK) and wanted to make sure you saw it in case you're still looking for a greenhouse.

Greenhouse kit for sale! By auction!!  This never-opened Growing Spaces geodesic dome kit is being sold as surplus by the Anchorage (Alaska) School District. Bidding is underway.

If you are interested, contact me ASAP through this forum or email Nygard_bright@asdk12.org

This could be a bargain (especially if you can arrange for discounted shipping from Anchorage Alaska)

This 18-foot diameter dome sells new online for $13500 plus shipping from the maker Growing Spaces in Pagosa Springs CO.  https://growingspaces.com/  They are designed to be off-grid with solar-powered vents and fans and an internal pond for thermal heat exchange.  The plans are stamped by a Colorado engineer.
