As a native plant person, Michelle is right.
We had our first plant swap in May and there were plants galore.
We also have an annual seed swap in December, and we had so many left over.
I'm sure your local native plant group would, at the very least, give you a few seeds and plants to get you started.

Hi Kathryn,
Check and see if your state has a Native Plant Society. Here in Georgia, our native plant chapters actually install gardens with native plants in schools and at nature centers. Native plant people are kind of crazy and we generally have hundreds of plants potted up in our yards and jars and jars of seeds. Native plants are THE BEST for native pollinators.

Hi Kathryn!
Check with your local Master Gardener Association, they cab be a great resource for seeds and school garden grants. Many also have free plant distributions to schools a couple of times a year.

Hi all - wondering if folks know about places to apply for free or reduced price perennials for pollinator gardens. There are a number of seed companies that donate seeds past their germination test (here's a list of some of them: http://njlaconference.info/sites/njlaconference.info/files/Seed%20Donation%20Resources.pdf) but I haven't had very much luck finding sources for perennial pollinator plants or even flower seeds. I appreciate any sources. Thanks!
Kathryn
