    This is a really wonderful idea from Edutopia. 
    Over 8 weeks, the students grew, hydroponically, herbs and vegetables that were going to be used in making dumplings.  Most cultures have something like a dumpling in their food history. It helped the kids learn about where their food comes from, the foodways of the students in their class, and even helped connect them with their grandparents when they needed a recipe. 
    This was funded by a grant.
