We are trying to get our garden up and running, but we have no funding.  I have applied for several grants and a couple of companies for free seed.  However, if anyone would like to donate any extra seed they have it would be greatly appreciated!!  Our garden is a joint effort between my Functional Skills class and one of the General Ed. Biology classes, the students are very excited.

    Thank you in advance!

What seeds are you interested in ?  Makes a difference if they are growing outside or inside.

    Hello!
I have some Sweat Pea (flower) seeds, some Scarlet Runner Bean seeds and some Birdhouse Gourd seeds. They are all from plants we grew that then went to seed and we harvested them.
    Would you like them?

Have you contacted the area agricultural extension? https://www.shelbycountytn.gov/25/Agricultural-Extension-Services They may be able to get you seeds (and maybe even plants).

    Hello!

We have found that if you reach out to your local garden centers, both local and big box stores, in the fall they are usually very happy and able to set aside any seeds that were not sold during this past season.  We have been able to fill our garden beds and winter sowing containers with donated seed.

It is definitely worth a try, as they usually are not able to sell seeds from a past season.
    Win-win situation!

    Good luck!

    Daina

ps - We usually send a thank you with a picture of the garden beds from the kids at the height of growing season!

Slow Food has a project to provide rare, heirloom seeds to educators, non-profits. They feature different seeds (that produce food) each year, often will send a package of 3-6 seed packs. https://slowfoodusa.org/plant-a-seed-2022/
