As the weather is warming up, all I can think about it getting students back out to the garden.  I am curious to know what are some of your favorite things to plant in the spring?

Here at Hursey Elementary in Charleston SC, we're growing strawberries, collards, broccoli, lettuce, and so many more seasonal vegetables. We're also planting lots of herbs such as lavender, which is so calming. Our fennel and stevia have been the winners in our garden, due to their sweet flavors. To hear our students coming in the garden looking for a snack has been a delight. Just a few ideas to get you going. Happy spring gardening.

Yes! I've been counting down to garden time too-there's just something so refreshing about getting the kids outside and digging in the dirt. I love planting quick-growing veggies like radishes and lettuce since the kids can see results fast, and sunflowers are always a hit because they grow tall and bright. Herbs like mint and basil are great too-easy to grow and smell amazing, which the kids love!
