Hi all, I am sharing a message from our friends at Green Schoolyards in the hope that you will reach out to your Senators, encouraging them to co-sponsor The Living Schoolyards Act. The bill will be reintroduced in the U.S. Senate tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10!
More information about the bill (and resources to support its passage) can be found here and in the email below.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for signing on as part of the coalition of support for the Living Schoolyards Act. We deeply appreciate and value your endorsement. We recently shared the updated list of endorsers with Senator Heinrich's staff and we are now at 146 coalition partners! You can always check out our growing list at the bottom of this page.
The Living Schoolyard Act will be reintroduced in the U.S. Senate in May --perfect timing as May is International School Grounds Month and Living Schoolyards Month (in CA). In preparation for reintroduction, we would like to ask this coalition for some additional support:
    1. Please help us spread the word about the bill with the help of this press kit. We have included language and images to use. Green Schoolyards America has been and will be sharing posts on our social media channels on 04/13, 04/20, and 04/28 and you may repost these or create your own. However, feel free to share throughout the month of April and May at times which best suit your organization's communications calendar.
    2. If you or your organization would be willing to provide a quote in support of the Living Schoolyards Act, we would be grateful. We will provide these to Senator Heinrich's communication staff for their use in support of the bill. Feel free to email me directly with your quote.
      • Here is a sample quote: "America's public school grounds cover an estimated 2 million acres and play a central role in children's daily lives. Greening school grounds by removing asphalt and adding trees is a cost effective way to directly protect students from the effects of extreme heat due to climate change. We applaud Senator Heinrich's leadership on this groundbreaking legislation." - Sharon Danks, CEO and founder of Green Schoolyards America.
    3. If you have compelling before and after photos of transformed schoolyards that you would be willing to share with us and Senator Heinrich's staff, please let us know. If you are willing to share photos, please provide information on who to credit (e.g. © Green Schoolyards America) and any other relevant information (city, state).
