Did you know that you could check out seeds at your public library? If you aren’t sure, call!
In Peoria, Arizona, its public library system has a program where one checks out (and keeps!) native-to-Arizona seeds that can grow in our extreme desert temperatures. One receives three seeds per checkout, and there is the opportunity to check out three sets of seeds each time, every three weeks. We do not require that any seeds be returned or exchanged to participate with this special resource. We just want folks to have fun trying some new things in your garden, or create a sustainable fruit, vegetable or flower garden for home use.
Fun Fact: Peoria, AZ is along the monarch butterfly migration route, so we have added some seeds to help grow local pollinator gardens to attract our important friends - butterflies and bees!
