Hello Folks,
Greetings from Portland, Maine! I am currently working to support Early Childhood Education Centers (ECE's) to incorporate locally grown/produced foods into their sites! I am working to support ECE's on this objective through Gardening, Procurement, and Education, but I am here today to request input on Gardening resources.
I am working with an ECE director on creating a vegetable raised garden bed to grow snacks for their site. The director does not have previous experience in preschool gardens before, and is looking for resources about the process and gardening to support their garden (specific USDA Zone 6a related information).
I have a few resources on hand from the National Farm to School Network on establishing Student Gardens, and some resources from our local Cooperative Extension on how to start/support a student garden. I also have personal experience on gardening as well that I am more than happy to share with the director I am working with!
I would love it if folks could share any additional resources that have helped their sites in establishing/sustaining a student garden, and any wisdom you would be able to share with me and this director!
