Last year I was gifted with several potato bags in which to grow potatoes with my kids.  In Southern California, our optimal potato growing time is early spring and early fall.  Here is a great resource from Kids Gardening to help you get started on planting potatoes at home.  https://kidsgardening.org/resources/growing-guide-potatoes/#:~:text=Container%20Growing%3A%20Choose%20a%20large,tops%20of%20the%20plants%20exposed.

    Hi, Jacqueline,

Thank you for sharing this resource! Those potatoes grow bags are such a fun way to get kids excited about growing their own food. In Southern California your timing makes perfect sense, and the Kids Gardening guide you linked is a great step‑by‑step support for anyone getting started.

We planted potatoes on campus and did quite well, so I've enjoyed using potato bags with my students, too. They really love the hands‑on discovery as the plants grow. However, I did not fare as well with my potatoes at home. I appreciate you highlighting this resource for the community as it is a helpful reminder for all of us planning our next planting season.

    Thanks again!
