Regional Lead

We're Seeking Regional Leads!

Do you love connecting with people through youth gardening?

The Kids Garden Community is launching U.S.-based regional groups, and seeking passionate Regional Leads to bring them to life.

These groups will connect educators and caregivers who share similar climates, growing conditions, challenges, and cultural contexts, creating space to exchange regionally relevant resources, events, and ideas.

Regional Leads play a vital role in cultivating connection, peer learning, and belonging within a designated multi-state region. By facilitating conversations, elevating local expertise, and encouraging participation, Regional Leads help ensure that the Kids Garden Community feels both nationally connected and locally meaningful.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and moderate an online regional discussion group within the Kids Garden Community, encouraging inclusive, welcoming, and supportive conversations.

  • Serve as regional connector and liaison by building relationships, supporting cross-state connections, and guiding members to relevant resources and expertise.

  • Plan and host informal virtual meetups (and/or occasional in-person gatherings, like garden tours).

  • Support outreach & engagement efforts to grow participation in the regional group and encourage ongoing involvement.

  • Share regional insights, needs, and opportunities with the Kids Garden Community leadership team to help inform national programming and support.

  • Uphold DEIA values by fostering an inclusive, accessible, and respectful regional community that welcomes diverse experiences and perspectives.

We’re Looking for Someone Who…

  • Has experience in youth gardening, whether through schools, early childhood programs, community gardens, or nonprofit initiatives.

  • Brings lived experience as an educator, caregiver, community leader, or garden organizer, and values multiple pathways into youth gardening and leadership.

  • Understands the regional youth gardening landscape, including climate and growing conditions, common challenges, and key organizations or networks.

  • Enjoys facilitating connection, including moderating online discussions and hosting virtual or in-person gatherings.

  • Is an outgoing connector who enjoys bringing people together, encouraging participation, and helping others feel welcome and included.

  • Manages time and responsibilities reliably, meeting commitments and communicating proactively when support or flexibility is needed.

  • Works well both independently and collaboratively, and communicates clearly with peers and the Kids Garden Community team.
