  • 1.  5 year plan to start a school/community garden

    Posted 02-14-2022 03:40:00 PM
Does anybody have a 5 year plan for getting a garden going from scratch?

We have a plot of land at our local public elementary school. This spring we would like to start creating our garden. It will be a shared project between the school and the neighborhood association. If anyone has any 5 year - or general game plans - I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,
I love that you are thinking long-term.  Here are a couple of resources that may be useful:
    1. What is your Why: School Gardens with a Purpose
This training walks through creating a logic model to plan out a school garden program.
    2. Sustaining School Garden Webinars
A few webinars that are specific to sustaining school gardens from the school garden support organization network.

    Hope this help, good luck!

    Hi Lisa,
Here is a good place to start:

USDA Farm to School has tons of resources for starting and maintaining school gardens.  Just Google their teacher resources page.

    Good luck!
    Sincerely,
    Doreen Petri
