  • 1.  Best Veggies for a Short Growing Season?

    Hi everyone,

    We're starting a small garden program at our local rec center, but our growing season is pretty short (Zone 5). Wondering what veggies you've had the best luck with in a similar climate, especially ones that are fun and easy for kids to grow.

    Hi James!

    I live in Zone 5A in Dubuque, IA. At my school garden, we have grown everything from eggplant, tomatoes and peppers to popcorn, sweet potatoes and winter squash. There's actually not much that you can't grow here, if you start your plants early. No worries!
