I taught a gardening program at a daycare and we used as many recycled products as possible. For the 2 -3 year old classes, I used quart sized plastic milk jugs and for the older classes, ages 4-6, I used 1/2 gallon milk jugs. Just make holes in the top, fill and then screw on the tops. You can have them all ready when the class comes out. Refills are easy if you have a big tub with water in it, the children can dunk the jug and fill it themselves. Using the quart size with the youngest also prevents them completely inundating a single plant with a lot of water. They tend to like to water one plant at a time. Another hint, don't fill them all the way. They can be stored with a bungee cord through the handles and have extra tops, they are always getting lost. The screw on tops work better than the snap on.

Subject: best watering can for little hands?
Do you all have a favorite children's watering can?
We are using typical big plastic adult ones. Too awkward!
