  • 1.  Kids Garden Month Bingo!

    Posted 04-01-2026 08:39:00 AM

It's Kids Garden Month and this year we're playing Bingo! Every year, KidsGardening holds a month-long contest for kids and we hold a contest here in the Kids Garden Community so educators, caregivers, and volunteers can get in on the fun!

    How to play:

    • Download the bingo card

    • Complete 3 activities in a row/column/diagonal

    • Multiple bingos allowed and encouraged

    • Deadline April 30, 2026

Did you get all the bingos you can?

    1. Shout "BINGO!" as a reply to this thread

    2. Tell us how many bingos you got (each bingo is an entry for the prize drawing)

    3. Tell us what you did for 3 of the activities to get one of your bingos (e.g. tell us your garden joke, who you found with the same interests, etc.)

Prize details and kids' bingo info is provided here.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    BINGO! I got 2 bingos.

Joke: How does a flower ride a bike? It petals.

5 minutes outside hand-watering the school garden.

At home, I'm planting delphinium in the garden for the first time and bluebonnets have bloomed for the first time in my flower bed! 💙

    Joke... see above. 😁

I'm sharing Kids Garden Bingo with my gardening club in our newsletter this month.

    BINGO

I got 6 Bingo's.  The only one I did not do is to share a recipe

I am taking a class on gardening.

I shared the Bingo card with a colleague and friend

Nature;  I fed the chickens some grass/weeds that I pulled from the garden and then just watched them scratch/eat it.

Found 3 community members in my state that shared an interest in special education students.

    Updated my profile

    Garden in spanish is Jardin

Planted Parsley and tried a spaghetti squash.

My PreK class of 12 students got 6 BINGOS!!!!

*We recently had a bunch of rain and loved drawing worms as they wiggled across the cement.

*The sun FINALLY came out and we enjoyed feeling the sunshine on our face while we went bird watching.

*Each student has their own nature journal and wrote in it quite a bit over the last two weeks-We had rain, snow, windy, and 80 degree weather!

We will be sending home a bingo card home for homework this coming Friday!

PreK students went outside with bird watching books, binoculars, and view finders to look for birds and worms.

    BINGO.

    I updated my profile.

Today we watched a video on container gardening. Which is better for sweet potatoes. Buckets will get you potatoes (long and thin), but it appears if you allow the vines to vine into the ground, you will get more. Once the green house is finished, we will prove or disprove this video.

I spent 40 minutes outside enjoying the view of our new greenhouse. No student with me. Just me thinking about the possibilities and thinking about ways to bring the birds in to the playground area of the school.  We have no trees. But, the greenhouse is almost done and we are adding in wood garden boxes around the outside. Our plan is to dismantle the old wooden beds and utilize the dirt in the new garden boxes. we will then find a way to get the nice galvanized beds.

    BINGO!

    1. Made a kid laugh (or groan) with a garden joke/pun... the kids were having a "very active" 😉 day, so to speak... I told them "the corn has ears and the potatoes have eyes"... there were a few confused looks and a a few that actually understood the pun!
    2. Take 5 quiet minutes for yourself in nature... I spent (more than) 5 quiet minutes in the garden pulling weeds. 😌
    3. Plant something new, taste a new fruit/veg or cook with a new fruit/veg... we planted green onions 👩‍🌾 for the very first time in the garden!

    BINGO!

    How fun!

I just tried a new(to me) cherry tomato. It's from Trader Joe's, they are called sprinkles. They are yummy.

I told a joke at our preschool snack table and I made one kiddo laugh pretty hard. It's loosely garden inspired. "Why did the dog lay down in the shade?" "Because he didn't want to be a hot dog!"

I updated my profile and I can't wait to play bingo with our older children.

    Thank you kids gardening!

P.S. I am attaching a picture of a garden sign I made with inspiration from this group.

    Bingo!

    I have 3 bingos.

Today, I watched my students plant the new orchard that was donated to our school and learned how to care for it. I spent time outside today taking pictures of it to share with friends and family and spent time outside repotting some plants.

I updated my profile and searched for others in Wisconsin in the community that I can connect with.

I shared the kids garden bingo with my garden club students and 4 of them played to get a bingo, which I submitted for them today.

I also learned some new words about gardening with my bilingual students, this past month as we read about where our food comes from in reading time. We speak Spanish and English in our classroom and my students come from various Spanish speaking countries so we get to share the different words we each use to talk about food and gardening.

Thank you for this fun opportunity to celebrate gardening! Excited to keep up the fun as garden club gets underway for us!

    BINGO!

    I had 3 BINGOS.

I made a kid laugh with my garden joke:  When do you go on red and stop on green?  When you are eating a watermelon.

I went for a nature walk.

I cooked with new veggie:  leeks

I learned something new about gardening:  I learned how we can use plantain (weeds) to draw out splinters or use as an anti-inflammatory compound to heal some wounds.

I checked my profile to make sure it was up to date.

Learn a new garden word in a new language:  Swedish word for garden

    trädgård
