    It is very difficult to grow milkweed from seed.  Check with the Xerces society to find out which milkweed is native to your area.  Seeds need cold stratification for 60 days to germinate.  I put mine in the fridge in a zip lock bag in wet play sand.
    Then it helps to plant in pots in a green house.  Check out Mr. Lund the science guy on youtube to learn more about it.

    Each of the seed packets has instructions for properly cold stratifying the seeds.  We get an 85% germination rate using a method developed by our colleague Kim Bailey. She grows much of the milkweed seed for Monarch Watch.
