  • 1.  Selling plants or flowers as a fundraiser

    Posted 11 days ago

    Hi!

I'm looking for feedback/suggestions/experiences about selling plants or flower bouquets as a fundraiser for elementary school students.

I am an ESL teacher at an elementary school. We grow a lot of plants during the springtime. I have the idea to try to sell either seedlings or cut flower bouquets as a fundraiser for student' field trips throughout the year. If we did the cut flower bouquets, we would grow the flowers on the campus and then harvest flowers in August or September.

I'd love any suggestions or stories of success!

    Thank you!

    Hi!

We have been selling seedlings for our horticulture class for a couple years now and had a lot of success. One thing this past year was linking up with a local nature center that does a native plant sale. We bring our veggie/herb seedlings which seems super complimentary and doesn't compete with their sales. We also have a website that people can go to to order that we share with the community. If you wanted to do cut flowers but dress it up a bit for the bouquets, try using a floral brick. It helps the flowers last longer. When we make evergreen centerpieces to sell in the winter I have found it easy for the students to use the floral bricks and helps with having the greenery last longer. Below I will share our website if you want to take a look for any inspiration or help it might provide.
