Hi Andrea! One of my school districts requires me to have liability insurance, which I have a policy through Hiscox. I have been happy with it so far, although I haven't needed to use it for anything yet. My understanding is that it covers me though, and I don't think it covers kids. I think when kids are in school, the school covers that. It would probably be different for a summer camp.
Maybe look into "summer camp release forms" and see what is required by your state? In our state, you sign a waiver aka release to not hold the camp responsible for what happens to a child, and also provide information about their health insurance, and give them permission to act on your behalf in an emergency situation. That's where I'd start, if I did a summer camp, to verify if coverage is necessary, or can be replaced with a release. Keep us updated, I have been thinking about doing this, as a way of keeping programming going thru summer!

Hello!
I'm new to the community and am thrilled to be here. I've been teaching garden, nature and outdoor ed for 7 many years for various school districts and organizations. I'm also a certified kids yoga teacher. I'm venturing off on my own to be my own director of a small little independent business called InBloom Kids Yoga & Gardening. I'm launching in the next few months, just in time for summer camps in my community. For you small business owners out there who are offering your garden teacher services, what insurance carriers are you with? Any recommendations are appreciated!
Thanks!
-Andrea
