    Hi everyone!

I'm looking for weather-related lessons or activities for K-5 students and would love to hear what you've found successful in your classrooms.

    I'm interested in:

    • Full-length weather lessons (30-60 minutes)
    • Short, structured activities that can be completed in 5-10 minutes as lesson openers, brain breaks, or extensions

Topics could include anything weather-related clouds, the water cycle, extreme weather, climate, forecasting, seasons, wind, precipitation, or other engaging weather concepts.

    Thanks in advance!

    Betsy

Our team loves nature journals that provide consistent observations of weather, integrates multiple skills, and opens up conversations about other ecosystem related conversations. Rite in the Rain is a wonderful tool, but you can also make your own.

I have all my 1/2 kids pick "buddy trees" at the beginning of the year and then do a monthly check in on their tree! They have "buddy tree field journals" where they write the date, time, temperature, circle a weather icon, and draw a picture of what the tree looks like. They really love it and get so attached to their trees, it's very sweet. We also have a weather station at the farm where kids can check the temperature, air pressure, humidity, and wind speed using different scientific tools. They especially love the electronic anemometer for wind speed - everyone wants a turn! I also printed out and laminated little cloud viewers to identify different cloud types.
